Tokyo Beast Web3 Game to Shut Down After Failing to Balance Operational Costs
Tokyo Beast, a highly anticipated web3 game with four years of development and a $20 million budget, will terminate its services on August 24. Producer Naoki Motohashi cited unsustainable operational costs as the primary reason for the shutdown, expressing regret to the game's supporters.
The game's store halted sales on July 22, with its back-end system, BASE, closing on July 31. Full service termination follows on August 24, while refunds in USDC—aimed at avoiding TGT token volatility—will be available from August 25 to September 30. NFT holders will receive compensation above initial sale prices from a $350,000 pool.
